The Quaker Simplicity of Talking to God

We were fortunate to be able to attend the FWCC World Plenary Meeting in South Africa in early August, where we met Quakers from around the world—Quakers like Pradip Lamichhane, a member of Bhaktapur Evangelical Friends Church in Nepal.

Pradip was full of enthusiasm, and eager to discuss his prayer life. “Every morning, I wake up, I say, ‘Thank you, God, that’s all!'” he says. “Before going to bed: ‘Oh, thank you, God, very much, how lovely you are.'”

Pradip speaks movingly of the inspiration he takes from George Fox’s ministry, especially his faith in the power of prayer to bring us peace and blessing, and to bring Friends together in community. “God is love. God is full of mercy. God will be there always for you,” he reminds us. “But you need to talk with him.”
