The Secret to Quaker Prayer: Holding in the Light

“As long as I’ve been a Quaker,” Windy Cooler admits, “I’ve been a little unclear about what ‘holding in the Light’ means.” Is it just an expression Friends use instead of saying they’re going to pray for someone? Or does it show an intense kind of care and concern for that person? Maybe even a unique form of communion with each other and The Divine?

Windy and several other Friends share their thoughts.

  1. Great comments! I love the concept of “holding in the Light” those we love and care about and ALL of Life! But the comments about the “fire” of the Light and how it reveals the Truth which can often be uncomfortable, eliciting change – was insightful! And truthful! Thanks for this episode of Quaker Speak.

    1. I very much enjoyed this speak about the light. Personally I acknowledge a lot of the LIFE in very primitive terms.. I see the light bringing warmth and a gathering of people to a hearth…the enjoyment of sharing presence/ presents. and eating blessings. To be with and and not alone….just a few thoughts from me ..I hope to see more in your videos and writings
