Leaving Quakerism Better Than We Found It

Norval Reece was giving a tour of his Quaker meetinghouse when someone asked, “What is this space used for now?” That’s when he realized we’ve got to do a better job of telling our story.

  3. Yes, and that’s a good way to describe the anti-racism work that we are doing. White Quakers and Black Quakers together are working on it.

  4. I’m all in with what Norvel Reece said.
At our Meeting in Downingtown, Pa we try to be public Quakers. Both our booth at the annual 4th of July “Good Neighbors Day” celebration and our open Fall Festival gives the community a chance to learn about Friends.
Norvel lit me up when he talked about “the Divine Spark in everyone” and the “perfectibility of man and women,” We do have the capacity to behave more like the divine (Jesus) in our actions, every day.
Our tradition is to be simple, but I agree with Norvel, it’s okay to show people who we are.
