We’d love to have a video about Quaker House- do we have a chance? We could include videos of some of the folks we’ve helped and show off our many projects/missions. We are such a unique Quaker organization. thanks, Lynn and Steve Newsom, Directors

Thanks, Jon, for this “warning.” Once again, something wonderful to look forward to on Thursday evening when I come home from work. Of course I anticipate your excellent regular work, but also look forward to the pieces aided by the new sponsors.

Please be careful with in musical background to your speaker. For those (elderly) Friends with hearing impairment it is much more of a strain to listen to what is being said against a background of music. Having a music background was the common thing in the 50s and 60s of the last century when I was growing up here in England, especially on news films and such like, but the idea of background music seems to have gained popularity once more and now I am older it can be a real problem.

But please keep up the good work! I look forward to your weekly slot on my Iphone wherever I am! Love and blessings to you all, Noël.

Thanks for your comment, Noel! If you’re ever having trouble understanding what someone is saying in a QuakerSpeak video, just hit the “CC” button at the bottom of the video frame. This will enable closed captions. More info here.

As someone who is new to Quaker faith and practice, I enjoyed and appreciated Season One of QuakerSpeak. It was helpful, interesting, illuminating, and encouraging. So glad that you will continue the project!

Thank goodness for the second year of Quaker Speak – and you, Jon Watts, & other individuals involved as well as your new sponsors.

Noel Staples is spot on about the background music. It makes it very hard for those of us with hearing impairment to understand what is being said..

Good to hear from you, Maria! Thanks for your support and encouragement.

Most QuakerSpeak videos do not have background music, but regardless, if you’re ever having trouble understanding what is being said, I would recommend that you enable closed captioning. (Just hit the CC button at the bottom of the video frame)

Jon, if we were subscribed last season, do we need to re-subscribe? (I hope not! And think not since this announcement showed up in my email. But just checking. Wouldn’t want to miss a week!)

Great series. I used two videos at a meeting of the Western Quarterly (associated with Philadelphia Yearly Meeting) last year (2014). The videos helped to engage the audience, develop community, and foster meaningful, thoughtful conversation.

Thanks for the comment, Tonya! Glad that Western Quarter found our videos useful. Please let me know if there’s any topic that would be particularly helpful for us to cover.

SO glad you are back for a second season, Jon. When I didn’t get a video for weeks, I was worried that you might have run out of energy for this wonderful project. I was dearly hoping QuakerSpeak was not just a Divine flash in the Quaker pan. : ) I look forward to your continuing education of new and old Quakers alike, and am so grateful for this QuakerSpeak ministry.

Thanks so much Allison! Being no stranger to burnout, I was really grateful to have an offseason built into the plan! Now excited to be getting back to work.

Quaker Speak makes a lot of sense. It really seems to be adding a higher level of explaining to all of the pieces of Quakerism that are really pretty hard to explain to everyone. Finally a place where I can refer people who might be interested in becoming attenders or learning more! My answers are not everybody’s answers so the approach here of a variety of people speaking of their experience works for me.

    Keep it up Jon!
